"Settle down, heart, settle down" - Casey Black, Settle Down
I'm mad broke this weekend. No excess dollars for my usual party down. It's the first ov da month and I got bills to pay, so I'm watching a few movies, playing a little gamecube, working on my 101/1001 list (which should hopefully debut and begin tomorrow) and spending way too much time on this infernal internet.
Here's what I've found:
I'm telling you, Bands Incarcerated would be a hit. (found via saucydame)
Ghostface hates jews and faggot ass niggas...but at least he loves cake.
Meanwhile, DJ Spooky told Lynne this last year:
A phrase I always bring up here is William Gibson's "the future is already here, it's just unevenly distributed..." That's what 9/11 was about: we are faced with a world arrayed against the values that have been fostered as THE future. There are so many futures, and we need to think about that. The way to heal from 9/11, to me, is to think of America's place in the world and really create some kind of bridge between how we live and how the rest of the world lives. Hip hop at this point is the global medium...
Maybe you should try to catch his Re-Birth of a Nation when it comes to a town near you.
And then maybe you should go see A Home at the End of the World. The hub-bub has been over Colin Farrell's member but maybe it should be about something a little more important.
Or, and we're going back to Birth of a Nation here -- Keep Up! --, you could go to the bookstore and pick up the graphic novel. And then, while you're there, pick up Little Scarlet. That's what I'm going to do come payday. Right after I pay my rent.
But if you're not going to go to the bookstore or your local library and you're not going to go see the movies already mentioned in this piece, you can at least notice that a certain author of LA based mysteries is playing a bit role as a Senator in The Manchurian Candidate named...Mr. Rawlins, of course.
Bobby Brown just looks dirty in those pictures. So sad.
